Illustration for article titled American Cheese A Very British Mystery

What is American cheese? This is a question I asked my American boyfriend last year. I had never heard of a cheese being named after a country.

How can 'American' be a type of cheese? Well using the term cheese is a bloody cheek, it's processed plastic (I don't mean to offend any americans, this is a personal view).

As an London Lassy I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY YOU CAN'T GET NORMAL CHEESE OR CREAM IN AMERICA!!!! khozdfhofa;oifli!

It is so ANNOYING, why do people at cheese counters look at me with confusion when I ask for a Manchego? Cream that starts with a K is not cream. Can I get some clotted cream up in this?

Do you seriously expect me to have canned cream on my strawberries CANNED, we are not philistines.
