This has been consuming my morning, and I'm trying to get it out of my system. Basically, I'm in the process of applying to dental schools (actually, I have already applied). They require letters of recommendations, or you could submit a committee evaluation. What that is is basically your undergraduate university has a team of advisers who write an overall evaluation for you based on letters of recommendations you send them from professors, employers, etc. and from an interview they do with you. I took care of this all by June, and the primary letter writer told me it would take 2-3 weeks for her to write the letter. It's now been fucking 5 weeks. My application is sent and I have received emails from schools that they've received it. I'm just waiting for this lady to submit this letter. I contacted her last week, and she said that she was on vacation and medical leave for 2 weeks (which I understand!) and that the office is moving, so it's busy. I understand all of these things, but it doesn't make my worries go away. I wanted to apply as early as possible, and now that this is taking forever, I feel like I lost my chance of being early since it takes time for the letter to be verified, mailed out to each school, etc. I want to contact her again via email since it's the weekend, but I don't want to sound rude. Would it be okay if I just said something like, "Hi XXX, I just wanted to check up on the status of my letter. Do you think it could be completed and submitted by sometime this upcoming week?"
