my (new, wonderful) animal shelter won’t be able to have their usual open house fundraiser this year, we we’re trying to figure out an alternative so that the animals we get next year can have their vet bills paid.
Usually there are various auction/raffle items that people bid on. I’m trying to figure out the best actual physical format to use for this - Facebook posts? Ebay? Something else? How do we avoid having to pay for shipping if someone who isn’t local wins something?
I intend to have a new offering of “buying” an x-ray ($100), a bottle of antibiotics ($20), blood tests ($60), etc. which people will receive a thank you card (and receipt?) for.
One of the problems I’m running in to is that the money we raise doesn’t actually go directly to us - it goes to our non-profit partner, who then pays the vet bills for things we can’t handle in-house. Their website is not super modern and requires that people make a note when donating to the vet fund vs. the group’s regular operations. I’m not sure if we do this on, like, Facebook what the best way to get the donations to the group will be.
