If you enjoy crocheting or knitting, or would like to learn how, Yarnspirations is starting their 2015 Mystery Afghan soon. Every week for 10 weeks, you'll get a new piece of the pattern. There are online instructions, videos and all the help you need even if you've never tangled before.

I signed up, and treated myself to the Kit. I picked my own colors. The yarn they've chosen for the kit is really nice and you get 15% off when you sign up for the Mystery Afghan. You don't have to buy the kit, or use their specific yarn to follow along. The program is free, but it's a limited time to sign up. This is my first year doing it and I'm really looking forward to seeing how it turns out. I'd love to have a couple of fellow GTers join. It'd be nice to be able to share photos, or throw out questions if one of us gets stuck.

ETA: It looks like the crochet kit is significantly cheaper than the knitting kit. The knitting kit includes a lot of different knitting needles that you'd need to finish the project that really ups the price. The crochet kit is about $45 with tax/shipping. The crochet is closer to $120. If you already have the knitting needles you can not include them and the price would go down.

Here's the link if anyone is interested.

ETA: Thanks to mellyflikster to alerting us to a Michael's sale in the comments!

I don't know how long it's going to last, but Michael's is having a sale on yarn right now, and the yarn they're using for this is going for $2.50 instead of the usual $4.49.
