Welcome To The Bitchery


I am roasting cornish game hens. They are filled with a wedge of squeezed out lemon and a clove of garlic and a pinch of rosemary and they are chilling in my fridge so that the smells can permeate and the skins can dry out a little.

I have juiced the lemon, and have tossed the parsnip coins in the juice, along with a wedged vidalia onion, with salt and pepper and olive oil. Is there anything else I should add to the veg mix by way of sugar or spice? Keep in mind that I am not planning to go out and buy things and that the onion and parsnips were all I have.

ETA: On an amusing note, both hens fit on my roasting rack, though they are close together and are sort of in a chicken-centipede type arrangement.
