Reading this story really sent a chill down my spine. A Congressional delegation featuring Michele Bachmann traveled to Cairo this past weekend to praise the Egyptian military for their good work in crushing the anti-coup protests. Not surprisingly, the transitional government was very receptive to such sentiments and spread them all over state media. Basically, Bachmann seemed very eager to let everyone know that she remains as ignorant as ever, but as a matter of principle supports the annihilation of any group with the word "Muslim" in the title.

This is the part that makes my blood run cold:

Amplifying on the new government’s portrayal of its crackdown as a battle against terrorism, Mrs. Bachmann wrongly implied a link between the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, and the Muslim Brotherhood, the Islamist group whose political party dominated elections after the ouster of President Hosni Mubarak and now leads the opposition to the takeover.

“We have seen the threat that the Muslim Brotherhood has posed around the world. We stand against this great evil,” she said, adding: “We remember who caused 9/11. We remember who it was that killed 3,000 brave Americans.”

The United States and Egypt “have that common enemy, the terrorists who have shown themselves so recently in the form of the Muslim Brotherhood,” Mrs. Bachmann continued. “We don’t have a choice. They must be defeated.”

I'm just like holy fuck, how is this even allowed? Like one guy in the article says, it seems more like an SNL sketch than reality. Bad enough for the people of Minnesota that she's running around fucking things up over there, but saints preserve us from her having any role on the world stage.
