Baking Substitution Help?

A few weeks ago, I bought the world's tiniest jar of saffron at Home Goods for $3. I found a recipe for scones that calls for saffron, so I started whipping them up this AM. WELL, it turns out, the recipe calls for golden raisins and cooking sherry, neither of which I have. What I do have is a bag of frozen strawberries, some bananas, and an orange, in the fruit department.

Can I substitute strawberries for the raisins and skip the sherry or use water instead? I have no idea what saffron even tastes like, so I don't want to mix in something that will clash. I also don't want to make crappy scones.
