Spoilers, of course.
I did not—I had the smallest of expectations—I did not know it would be that good. I figured everybody was so excited to get more Star Wars they would take anything. I figured it would be your ordinary CG spectacle.
It wasn’t. I’ve fallen in love with Rey and Finn.
This has all been said by other people, but I’m still processing it. It felt like the 1970s Star Wars, but it still moved the series forward. Rey was amazing—like, actually amazing, not just a Strong Female Character. The threat is legitimately crazy. The friendships and little jokes and feelings were all there. I LITERALLY SCREAMED WHEN C-3PO’S OVERCOMPENSATING ASS SHOWED UP. What did I just watch, and how did it manage to win me over all at once again?
Sad about Han, though. I understand why they did it, but I wanted him to go out in a blaze of glory. It feels unfair to the rest of his life.
That is all. I am completely pumped up, despite expecting the total opposite. Talk to me about Star Wars, even though I’m late to the party.
