A bit of a post and run, but...

So I know some of you dirty hippies are also into birth/natural birth/midwifery/etc. I had a (lovely, if unplanned) c-section birth experience with Le Petit Comte, and this time around I would like to try for a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean... It's an actual god damn medical term). Got me a midwife (statistically, midwives are more successful with vbacs and mine—and the obstetrician she works with—have a great track record) and I'm prepping to do this the old fashioned way. So I'm doing some reading.

I picked up Ina May Gaskin's birthing bible "Ina May's Guide to Birth." It's good, but very... Spiritual hippie woo woo whatever... and that rubs me the wrong way. Not that I'm not getting anything out of it, but I was wondering if any of you had good birth books that aren't quite so... Prescriptive in their emotional descriptions of labor and childbirth.
