Alan Rickman. David Bowie. And now, you can add one more name to the list of people who have passed on this week: Brian Bedford, the voice of Disney’s incredibly suave and debonair Robin Hood.
I think I am not mistaken in saying that Bedford’s charming voice acting carries this entire movie, and somehow manages to make a heartthrob out of a fox wearing a hat.
Though obviously this performance is his greatest, lending his plummy tones to animalian merry men was not Bedford’s only accomplishment: he was also a highly respected Shakespearean actor, and was a hit as Lady Bracknell in a recent version of The Importance of Being Ernest.
He will be missed.
EDIT: I go on Jezebel so rarely that I didn’t see they had made their own article about this. Oh well. Consider this a smaller-scale mourning session.
