Just heard from the surgeon. Buster is out of surgery and awake, which is a huge load off my mind.
The neurologist said the bulging disc had compressed a lot of nerve tissue, which is bizarrely great news. Because the bulge looked so small on the MRI, he wasn’t 100% sure it was causing Buster’s pain, but after operating he’s almost certain. So for the first time in months there’s a lot of bright shiny light at the end of the tunnel.
I can’t pick him up until Wednesday at the earliest, and then I’m taking him back to boarding for at least a week or two so he can have round-the-clock care for the worst of it. I’ll miss him like crazy, but it looks like we’re finally on track to getting him back to a relatively normal life.
