I spent a couple of years in China way back in the day, so this story on the Atlantic about a book Called Unsavory Elements caught my eye. I may have to put it on my Amazon wish list. Do you have any fun expat books or stories to share? (I'm avoiding editing my paper, can you tell?)

Fave Quote: I’m absolutely not advocating prostitution. I’ve merely illustrated its rampant presence here, because despite being illegal on the books, the fact is that the Chinese government looks the other way so as to keep the hundreds of millions of single men at bay. I can see how foreigners might be confused by China’s “do as I say not as I do” system of governance. Yet, unlike an after-dinner stroll to your local pink-lit hair salon, which may just get you a warning and a wink from the authorities, drugs will get you a bullet to the back of the head.

Yup, i have memories of strolling past those pink hair salons and being ignored, unless accompanied by a male friend... ooooo China... Oh and did you know they only have one time zone!! http://www.theatlantic.com/china/archive/…
