I don’t get why the court wouldn’t let the infant’s parents take him to the United States for medical treatment that wasn’t available in the UK. I don’t understand enough though about his condition to know if there was any realistic chance of it helping. I’m a fan of the UK’s health system in general and think it’s better than what we have in the US, but this just seems a little too close for comfort to those mythical “death panels” that don’t actually exist.
I guess a big part of my philosophy is that government should try to help people out as much as possible but also let them live their lives as long as they’re not hurting anybody else. I hate things that make liberals look bad.
