Okay, okay, I know we all have a good laugh at poor old lentils. But as a former vegetarian turned vegan turned vegetarian turned omnivore, I used to eat a shit ton of quinoa. It was cheap and readily available at my local co-op, was high in protein and was easy to make. It ticked all of my boxes.

I ran across this article tonight from The Guardian that raises some serious questions about vegetarians and vegans relying on food that must be imported, which causes major issues for the growers' economy. Honestly, as much as I thought about "ethical" eating at that point, it was never on my radar that by eating quinoa, I was destroying an indigenous food source for the growers.

It's certainly...food for thought.
