The epitome of why so many people turned against the Catholic Church. A man who got away with his crimes against humanity. He knew transferring pedophile priests was wrong. He knew these molesters would molest again so for the “good of the Church” he had them transferred.

Remember let this be the major lesson. The Catholic Church values one thing above all else. It is not doing Jesus’ work, it is not protecting its children they teach or the alterchildren who assist, its not looking after the weakest. No. Hell no. The one thing they value is “the good of the Church” essentially their reputation.

“Good of the Church” protected these priests, protected the Brothers in my high school. Have a problem priest “good of the Church” transfer him and if they molest children transfer them again, priest gone =problem disappears.

Except it doesn’t instead of a few victims of molestation you have many in a wide area. Church should have contacted police once priest was discovered (or Brother). Children whose lives are forever changed a change that does.enormous damarge. A damage that has lead at least one suicide, decades of drug and alcohol problems.

“For the good of the church” doesn’t just affect the victims but also their families, their potential spouses and their potential children. Along with friends.

I went to a Catholic High School in the early 80s I only knew one Brother who would grab young men’s (high school teenagers) privates in the showers. He was transferred. In the early 200s I found out he was not alone and those molesters stayed for decades teaching. How many victms?

I was not a victim. Sometimes in the darkest part of my mind I ask “why wasn’t I? I was living just with my mother and grandmother I would have fit the profile. Was I undesirable? Or sheer luck?”. The Church should.never ever have put anyone at risk. The Church should never have nonvictims wonder why they were not targetted. For this Law and Pope John Paul II I will never forgive and hope Law especially is burning in Hell. His apology sounds like a man who was caught nothing more. He would not have to apologize if he truly was a “man of God” and acted in a Christlike manner which what his job truly was instead he put “good of the Church” first

I also always wondered if not charging Law was a political decision because state has I think majority Catholic and not based on legal grounds.
