Two items, unrelated, but both interesting, so I'm posting them together.

First: An essay about the invisible, mostly women minorities, labor that supports various apps and online market places.

Second: A photo series on the impossibility of being invisible while fat. A woman takes photos of herself in public and finds a lot of side-eye behind her back.

I'd be curious to know what people think about these. I've never used any of those cheap service apps because feels incredibly exploitative to me.


The photograph series is pretty wrenching, although it's not entirely clear to me that everyone is giving her dirty or weird looks; maybe they're thinking about something else entirely? Thoughts?
