So, I'm going back to work next week for the first time since having my kid, who is 19 months. Because it is part-time, daycare isn't really an option. I'm meeting with a nanny tomorrow who comes highly recommended, including by a friend who spontaneously mentioned her and how awesome she is when I said I am looking for childcare. She already takes care of another baby (I think she's around 6 months old) so this would be a share situation, which I think is good because it is a little less expensive than hiring a nanny on my own. My friend knows the other family and in fact swaps childcare with them for their older children, and says they are pretty laid-back. So, it sounds like a good situation.
Does anyone have any advice about what I should ask her when I meet with her? And what she will want to know about us and our son? For those who do or have done childcare, is there anything you wish you could say to the families you've worked with about being good partners in this? This is totally new territory for me and I am kind of frantic about getting the materials I need ready for the job, so I haven't been able to give this as much thought as I would like.
