I see a lot of musicals put on by local groups since I was a kid. I realized for classical musicals (I define classical musicals as preAndrew Lloyd Webber) I have only seen Showboat once. I realize also even far out of the city I have not seen advertisements for this musical (I only stick to in city and connecting towns) being performed. I remember seeing it as a teen (30 years agoish) and loving it. The music is great, the story is so sad in a lot of ways. Is it hard to produce? Is it too controversial?

The music is wonderful. Old Man River is still incredible. Or is it my area? The movie is also good.

What classical musical do you think is underrated? Again classical musical is preAndrew Lloyd Webber.
