I only recently discovered the musical concept of the “head voice”. I understand it for men thats fairly simple its falsetto like Frankie Valli or Barry Gibb.

With women I am not sure. Tarja Turninin (sp?) relies on her head voice. But I am not sure when she does it. I thought maybe it means female operatic voice but they rely on chest and head.

Since for falsetto in men it means hitting the high notes does that mean when Whitney reached “you” the apex of the song in I Will Always Love You that was her head voice? Or Mariah or Celine hitting the high notes is that the head voice?

Someone explain.
