I've started working on the Cthulhu pattern that I purchased from hardcorestitchcorps on Etsy. This is my first cross stitch EVAR, so I'm looking at it like a learning process. What I have learned so far:

  • Time flies when you're cross stitching; it feels like you're making great time, and then you look up and realize you've spent about 5 or 6 hours stitching one little tentacle. Maybe 7 hours? I lost track.
  • I still have a lot to learn about technique - what is the most efficient way to stitch, how to keep the back a lot neater.
  • Black thread seems to be a bit thinner than the coloured floss, or at least the 'crossiness' of the stitches stands out more with the black floss.

Here are the pics! I'll post some of my blackwork piece another time. Here is my original post. The bottom pic is of the palette for my big Schiele piece (the floss is the regular stuff, it just looks shiny from the flash), all ready to go once I finish Cthulhu and perhaps one more smaller practice piece.

Anyone else have progress to report?
