So I have posted on here before regarding my public transportation street harassment encounters once or twice before, but I am ready to do something about it. (I have a blog but need to update more regularly- okay.. at all...). Right now all I have is a 4 page letter defining street harassment, why it is problematic, statistics, personal experiences, and end with a discussion of the successful campaign in Philly. I plan on blasting out to several of DART's offices: Police, Community Affairs, The Diversity Program, and the Board. There is a board meeting on Nov 18th at 6:30 PM, but I have never been to a general meeting where comments are allowed from the public, and the whole idea makes me nervous. But I am also MAD MAD MAD MAD MAD MAD. If I have to get in ONE MORE ARGUMENT ABOUT WHY THATZ NOT OKAY ZOOMING IN ON PORNOGRAPHIC IMAGES OF FEMALE VULVAS ON THE TRAIN... ON AN IPAD... HELD AT FACE LEVEL.. FOR THE EVERYONE TO SEE...

OR IF I HAVE TO FEEL THAT YUCKY BUGS RUNNING ACROSS MY SKIN FEELING ONE MORE TIME AS I'M OOGLED AND STRIPPED WITH MALE EYES.... OR AS A MAN "READJUSTS" IN HIS SEAT SO HIS THIGHS END UP TOUCHING MINE... OR BEING CALLED A BITCH... OR BEING FLASHED... OR HAVING A HAND UNEXPECTEDLY GO UP MY SKIRT... YUCKY BUG FEELINGS.

INCREASED DISCOMFORT = INCREASED FEAR = DECREASED SELF-ESTEEM = A SENSE OF SILENCED SELF

AND I'M NOT LOOKING TO LET GO OF MY SELF.

I guess the purpose of my post is... Anyone here from Dallas want to try to organize something with me? Anyone have any good pointers for organization? I know a few cities have done anti-harassment campaigns on PT, which was the most successful? The Philly one? I don't know what I need. Sorry.
