I work across the street from a construction site. We have an amazing view from our second floor window of everything that's going on, and we have all been taking daily breaks from our work to watch, fascinated, as the lot went from being a parking lot to a giant hole in the ground to now slowly becoming an actual building.
My office is 85% women. 100% of the conversations I have about how neat it is have been with women. And yet, my one co-worker keeps talking with all of these construction-watching ladies about how we should have field trips of preschool boys over to watch the construction as if humans without penises could not possibly be interested in how buildings get made. It's so quietly and obliviously sexist. Unfortunately, she's basically my boss, so I can't slap some sense into her.
