Did anyone else catch the DR show today? They were scheduled to talk about the Stanford rape case, and I was actually excited as Diane always handles these emotional topics with grace.

However, it was unfortunately hosted not by Diane, but by David Gregory. Gregory allowed the male guest, Stuart Taylor of the Brookings Institute, to run ramrod over the two female guests, to victim blame, assert that the real problem is binge drinking and “the sex bureaucrats of college administrations”, to say that it’s not rape because it was ONLY FINGERS and not nearly as bad (thanks for that, I was raped via fingers but I guess it doesn’t count), and that sexual assault is one of the most falsely reported crimes - he would know because he wrote a book and talked to men who said they were falsely accused.

Gregory would then change the subject after each of Taylor’s claims so that the women were not allowed to refute him. At one point, Gregory said that women put themselves in vulnerable situations by drinking too much, that they teach men not to respect intimacy because high school girls post nearly naked photos of themselves on facebook, and that this results in “hooking up behind a dumpster”.

It has been a long time since I have actually shaken with fury.
