What's for dinner you guys?
I'm making some green soup and some buttermilk biscuits, because I have buttermilk I need to use by Wednesday. Plus I have no other bread in the house. I might make some of them cheddar biscuits.
Anyway, since I apparently suck at remembering recipes, I just bought the greens (kale and mustard greens - which I've never tried mustard greens but they're local and cheap, so we'll see) and some extra veggie broth, figuring I had everything else at home. HHAHAHAHAHAHHAA, NOPE! I lack green onions and cilantro, which add a lot of the flavor. So, I went fridge/cupboard hunting for something to add flavor. I used my fancy black Himalayan sea salt. I chopped up the remainder of a shallot that was on its last leg. I found a can of green chiles, so in most of those went. I'm considering tossing in some lentils and letting it cook down some more after the blending stage, because I have lentils and I would like it to be more filling. I'm using bacon grease instead of olive oil to caramelize the onions. It smells so good. It's probably the bacon grease. You guys don't think it's going to be hot garbage, do you? It's going to be like an hour, at least.
