I thought the Wild Sex book sounded kind of interesting, but from the Q&A on Gizmodo I’m a bit put off.

Too many answers about human sexual conundrums sounded a bit unresearched and generically sexist, falling back on “women need emotional sex, men need penis sex” and “the clitoris/female orgasm exists because penises are important.” One commenter even pointed out that studies have shown female orgasm aids in uptake of semen into the uterus (besides, obviously, making female partners more willing to have sex at all) and she admitted that made sense biologically. Well then clearly “we have clits because men have super important peens” isn’t the only answer, just the most male-centric one. Frustrating.
