Ok not a physicist nor a genius like Hawkings. Yet it seems his theory of what happened prior to the Big Bang violates thermodynamics law that says something cannot be created from nothing which is the first law.
Hawkings argues that prior to the Big Bang there was nothing. I cannot wrap my mind that one second there was nothing suddenly boom universe started to expand.
I know (not here) some would say God but it actually disproves God since you would have to ask who created a complex consciousness that could create a bang which created a Universe.
I would ponder this but it seems far above my mental pay grade.
