This may not be news to some of you, but Dr. Sandra Bem died on Tuesday. She was prolific in feminist psychology and women's & gender studies fields, and one of the first psychologists to critically begin to study gender on a spectrum. Her 1971 sex-role inventory (though controversial) is still one of the most widely utilized instruments to look at internalized gender norms, and her paper on the usefulness of assessing androgyny has been cited over 7,800 times. She ended her own life after battling Alzheimer's for four years, surrounded by family and peacefully saying her good-byes. I would highly recommend reading her obituary below.
