Yesterday I had an interview. I arrived almost 20 minutes early because I am one of those people who is either ridiculously early or 10 minutes late. I sat in my car in the parking lot for 10 minutes trying to put on my best casual/hire me face. I wore a maxi-dress and a blazer.

I walked in to the school and it was cool inside. This is a bonus, because most of the schools in the area are on par with the surface of the sun, temperature wise, this time of year. I waited for a few minutes in the administrative office, begging my hands to stop sweating. The principal came out and I already felt confident. She was wearing denim capris. I'm not judging, but it was good to know that I hadn't underdressed.

I was interviewed by two people and it was very casual. I had practiced all night answering the "what's your greatest weakness" question, and I didn't even have to answer that. They mostly asked about classroom management and how familiar I am with the standards. Then the rest of the interview consisted of them telling me about how they operate, what meetings I would be attending, and which grade I would be placed in. The principal concluded by telling me that she was very interested in having me at her school.

I thanked them both and the principal told me that she would contact HR about my license and I could expect to hear from her by the end of the day. I left and drove the 15 minutes from the school to my dad's house to pick up my kids. As I pulled in the driveway, she called and told me to go to HR right away so that she can get a letter in order to extend the offer formally. I've never had such a quick and positive response to an interview! I'm freaking out! I guess desperation in employment is a two-way street.

So, today I went to HR and emailed the principal with the pertinent information. Now I just wait for the offer or decline. But it has been a roller coaster of a week for me!
