What are you favourite poems and when do you read them? I've always loved poetry, but I don't find much time for it. I'll generally go for prose and essays unless I feel like being nostalgic (note: nostalgia in the literal sense of 'pain in being away from home'). I've been revisiting my poetry collection and have lingered on Rumi and Hafiz. I'm not a huge fan of the devotional genre, but some of the imagery is just beautiful:
Even when you tear its petals off one after another,
the rose keeps laughing and doesn't bend in pain.
"Why should I be afflicted because of a thorn?
It is the thorn which taught me how to laugh."
Whatever you lost through fate,
be certain that it saved you from pain.
A Sheikh was asked: "What is Sufism?"
He said: "To feel joy in the heart when sorrow appears."
The Subject Tonight is Love
The subject tonight is Love
And for tomorrow night as well,
As a matter of fact
I know of no better topic
For us to discuss
Until we all
If you feel like sharing, what do you like to read? And why/when do you seek it out?
