Hey Jezzidarlings, I'm sure some of you have already seen this on xoJane, but I also felt like it deserved discussion on our space. I don't always catch every Jez/GT post nowadays though, so feel free to direct me to one if it's already been mentioned!
First of all, I wanted to say that I think this woman is awesome. Both for being an open and passionate feminist and body-positive woman, and then for taking this terrible experience and turning it into an opportunity to stand up for herself and all women who are shamed for their weight.
Instead of internalizing thousands of vile comments and feeling really shitty and letting the body-shaming work (as I'm sure many people, myself included, would), she's started a Tumblr (link in the xoJane article) to spread the message of body positivity and feminist pride. She helps prove why feminism is necessary... and really it's the nastiness of the comments on the meme that help prove why feminism is necessary.
The response she got from Facebook is a whole separate issue about our privacy rights online (or lack of privacy rights online) but even that can't bum out how great it was to hear about one woman turning fat-shaming x10000 into a positive movement.
&If she and Lindy put their minds together, I think they could take over the world!
