I don't know how many of you caught this thread on the SNS in which a poster shared her plan to kill herself the next day. Obviously, lots of people responded asking her to change her mind and a few of us called the police. The next day she commented on the thread, restating her intention to commit suicide and, again, some of us contacted the authorities.

Well, today I got a phone call from a strange number, which I let go to voicemail. When I checked my message, it was from an officer in Knoxville who had gone to check on the poster and wanted to let me know that she was OK. She had declined any help, but the police talked to her father, so her family knows what kind of state she's in. Of course, she's still depressed and that sucks, but I really appreciated the officer taking the time to let me know that she is all right, at least for now. I was really moved by all the other posters who responded to her cry for help too. I know we like to complain about the mainpage, but lots of people took the trouble to dig through this woman's posts and find out where she lived, so that they could send help. The Internet can be a good place, guys!
