NPR’s Code Switch Team is reaching out to members of the LGBTQ community for thoughts on how they refer to themselves and others. The shooting in Orlando has brought the language of identity to the forefront in the news in a way it hasn’t frequently been in the past, and Code Switch is taking the opportunity to have a discussion around language.

I saw this on Facebook and wanted to pass it on - I think the language of the survey is not ideal, but they’re doing their best to be inclusive and reach out. If you’re inclined to explain the language you prefer in the name of better, more inclusive journalism, please do.
(I’m not affiliated, but I do believe surveys like this are best when disseminated widely to get a wider variety of answers, so I’m just spreading it around.)
