TW: Death? Maybe?
When we had the vaccination conversations a few weeks ago, it got me thinking about how much we take modern medicine for granted, so I asked myself: When would I have died without medicine?
This is just a thought exercise, obviously I can't know. Maybe I would have died of the flu when I was a baby, or something else I am vaccinated against.
The one time I know I would have died though, was when I was hospitalized when I was 12. I had food poisoning, and couldn't even keep down water. I weighed 76 pounds, lost almost a third of my body weight, and was hospitalized for dehydration. Without modern medicine I would have died.
So, would you have lived through childhood without modern medicine?
