Happy Good Friday, for all you Christian GTers with fur faces to share! And Happy Regular ol' Friday for everyone else.
This week, per KrabbyPaddy's excellent suggestion, I thought it would be a nice opportunity to celebrate all our Fur Faces who've gone to that big Farm in the Sky, ergo the "Gone Gentle Into That Good Night" as our FFF edition. So this week I'm asking for you to share with us some babies who are no longer with us, and perhaps your favorite memory of them. If that feels like too much for you, I completely understand. Please feel free to post any Fur Face you'd like!
The "rules": Favorites are chosen by me alone, entirely on my own whim. However, in the interest of GT solidarity, I select one dog picture and one cat picture (minimum!) each week. Other pets will also of course be considered. I love all your rats, bunnies, ferrets and other furry pals. I WILL NEVER DISCRIMINATE AGAINST CUTE. As always, I am happy to dismiss any pictures if you decide you want them taken down at some point.
Here are the winners from last time:
First, just look at this adorable nonsense — KrabbyPaddy, we'll miss those pupdates! Glad the little one has a new home, though!
MadPiglet's kitteh picture just killed me this week. It's like a cat taking a glamour shot:
Lidukha's roommate's doggeh had a photo shoot, bless you for sharing the results!
How It Happened shared Puck the kitty ballerina boy:
I did not know what a Schnoodle was, but now I do thanks for Dalila and BJORN.
Finally, StockingUpForaBitchShortage brought us cats and cabinets and Manon:
As always, go take a peek at everyone's sweethearts from last week because this is only a smidgen of the cute on display.
And now to get this sob fest rolling, here are some of my lost darlings — Cindy the cat, Chloe the border collie and Beauregard the dachshund.
Cindy was the cat my husband took in because his idiot parents were going to just LEAVE BEHIND when they moved. Even though he is severely allergic to cats, because seriously, WTF, in-laws?! She lived at least 19 years and died suddenly, probably of heart failure. She was gloriously weird.
Chloe was the dumbest border collie probably ever to live, but she was sweet and dear and made us all laugh. We called her "Slowy" because she was so noticeably NOT bright. She passed away after some routine dental surgery my folks had done for her cheaply at the local shelter. Guys, don't let a shelter (where the primary function is to euthanize animals) do vet work on your Fur Faces.
Finally, Beau. Oh my Beau. Oyez a Beau, Beau the Valiant. He was the dog of my childhood and made an awkward girlhood so much more bearable for his loving face and pint-sized bravery. When my mother called me in NC from FL to tell me he'd passed at 17, peacefully in his sleep, I slumped to the floor and sobbed like the child I was when we first got him.
And now, I appear to have gotten some serious dust in my eyes, so it's your turn, GT: Show my your Fur Faces! Past or present.
