I went and saw “Get Out” last night, based on the overwhelming positive reviews and reassurances from other Jezzies that it was not too-scary,and boy am I glad I did! It was fantastic! I wasn’t expecting a lot of the elements or the details of the major reveal, and I was blown away. And for someone who hates scary movies, this was perfect—more more of a psychological dramedy than pure horror, IMO.
On the other hand, I almost left within the first 20 minutes because the couple in front of me were talking through most of the movie and didn’t know how to whisper (they were an older couple, so their whispering was still loud enough), and these two guys sitting a couple of seats down the row from me were on their phone every 10 minutes. The screen was dimmed, but it was still bright enough for me to notice every damn time. I fucking hate people who can’t handle putting their phone away for two hours—if you can’t do that, then watch movies at home!
