I've been a bit AWOL since getting posting privileges, which is sad, but I had all but one of my papers (other than, of course, my thesis and one other) due this month. Actually, they're due next week, three days after I get back from SPAIN with a friend from high school days who teaches English there. He's visiting me now, and I've spent too much time and money going to London, but it was all worth it. Especially the play we saw tonight, Ghost Stories. SO CREEPY. Then we went to a gorgeous 1920s-style wine bar. A great improvement over the first day, wherein we went punting, my legs got covered in stinging nettles (THANKS ENGLAND I LOVE YOU TOO) and the punting place LOST MY STUDENT ID CARD, which caused a panic although less of one than we had during the moment they seemed to not be intending to give us back our deposit (because "I don't have money right now." Um, you have the money we GAVE YOU). They did eventually find my ID. But jfc, imagine if that was a driver's license or something! I didn't want to give it to them, but the guy demanded it. AND THEN LOST IT. Harumph.
So we're leaving in like half an hour and we've been up all night packing (such organized. very planning. wow). I did manage to pump out what's got to be the second-to-final draft of an essay— just need to check a couple sources and do the bibliography. The other two are similarly near completion— one needs a few more sources checked, the other needs about 50 words cut to make the limit, and both need bibliographies and then DONE.
So excited for Holy Week in Spain. And free tapas and cheap wine and open markets. I don't speak Spanish, though...but...HERE WE GO!
