So on of my VPs has been introducing a new resource at my school, called Zones of Regulation. The program was developed by an Occupational Therapist, to help students learn to self regulate their sensory needs, emotions and impulses. She was specifically working with Special Needs students, but the program can be used with anyone.

The idea is to make students more aware of their level of alertness, and give them tools to either up regulate, or down regulate their level of alertness to reach a calm and focused state.

So far we only have a couple of copies of the book in school, so I am just making do with some photocopied pages, but so far it looks useful.
