Considering the number of folks who have kiddos around here, I thought I should make y’all aware of a new program. Every Kid in a Park is all about giving an annual National Parks Pass to the families of a fourth grader so they can experience the natural wonders of the US for free. Just like a normal National Parks Pass it covers admission to National Historic Sites and fee use areas in the National Forests (so the Angeles Forest for LA area folks, Sabino Canyon and Mt Lemmon for Tucson area folks for example).
Educators (including informal educators that volunteer with groups of kiddos) can get passes and a lesson for kiddos if you want to take them to national lands and get them their own passes.
Have fun exploring!
