The topic of ASMR came up a while back when I posted about insomnia. Now I'm wondering just how common it is. I have ASMR, which is why my favorite sound ever is the clicky clacky noise that keyboards make when typing. It may also explain why I got into makeup, because it is really soothing to me to watch people doing makeup or painting like Bob Ross.
I've always been a quiet person and I grew up in a very quiet house, so I thought it was normal to prefer gentle quiet things. I don't like whispering, but I prefer people speak softly. I get this tingly feeling around the crown of my head, almost like the feeling of loosening a tight ponytail. I never gave this much thought until I heard this piece on This American Life:
Do you have ASMR? What makes your head all tingly?
