Or not. Whatever, man. I am makin' this crap for our family Christmas Eve do. I have been informed that I am not allowed to mention cooking interesting things and not make a post about it, so BEHOLD, A POST OF FOOD.

Mini-muffin Brownies with Vanilla Buttercream and Crushed Peppermint

I'm using this brownie recipe (which is new to me, so fingers crossed). The buttercream is just basic buttercream frosting - butter, powdered sugar, half 'n' half, Massey's vanilla. Belgian endive with lemon-pepper shrimp, asparagus tips, avocado sliver, and a drizzle of lime-yogurt-cilantro dressing stuff. I make some variation on this every single time I have people over. It's nice to have at least one non-hot thing, and a lot of it can be done ahead of time.

I saw somewhere (maybe linked from GT? dunno) a recipe for little taco-type things made with wonton wrappers baked in mini muffin tins. I'm foofing that shit up and filling them with spiced ground lamb, diced onion and grape tomato, flat-leaf parsley, and gouda. Oh whaaaaaat, shut up.

Bacon-wrapped medjool dates, because these people will fuss like all get-out if I do not make The Dates.

Other people are bringing food things, I think. We're having a nosh instead of a sit-down, big-plates meal. Easier, funner. Also there will be fresh strawberries and grapes and assorted crudite stuff.
