Okay, Stand Your Ground law. How does it even work? It seems to unfairly reward the victor in any situation. Can anyone shed some light on this before my head explodes?

Here's what I don't get. Person X makes Person Y feel unsafe or instigates a fight. Person Y reacts to defend themselves. They fight. Person X kills Person Y. Person X claims they were standing their ground and isn't jailed. BUT WASN'T PERSON Y ALSO STANDING THEIR GROUND? How can "standing your ground" be one sided? I just don't understand this at all.

I'm sorry, my thoughts are ALL over the place trying to make sense of all of the news coming in. It's all depressing. It's difficult to make sense of out things that are senseless. :/
