Someone unshared Omar's post so I'm sharing it over again. I am very curious to know what people's thoughts are on this.
Evidently adjuncts at Northern New Mexico College all had their pay schedule altered without notice, putting people—many of whom are already living on the financial edge—into further precariousness. They are trying to raise awareness about that, curricular changes and pay inequities (Chancellor's second car is a yellow HumVee) and started a hastag #WeAreNNMC. There are accusations (seemingly documented) of a blacklist of the protesters circulated to hiring committees on campus.
The adjuncts have gotten a cease-and desist letter from the College forbidding them from saying they are employees of the college, but also from using the words "we" and "us."
I guess because they aren't literally NNMC? ALthough with corporations being people these days, who can tell??
