The other day I had two fairly benign instances while walking.
1. I was walking to the store and I was about to turn a corner when I notice another woman walking across the street the so I slow down a bit so I don't bump into her. She ends up walking right in front of me and now I'm pretty much a few steps behind her. The woman slows down considerably after she is in front of me. So I want to walk past her but there is another woman come from the opposite direction. So I wait until the second woman passes me, to pass the woman in front of me. Every time I'm about to pass her she weaves. I'm not close enough to her that she bumps into me. But I do feel like I'm pretty much following behind her until I'm able to pass her on the stairs. The woman had headphones on so it's not like I could say excuse me.
2. I was walking from the movies with my mother, and this group of 4 people is spread out, in the middle of the sidewalk, and not paying attention to anyone around them. This was a particularly wide sidewalk that could accommodate 6 average sized people walking side by side with no issue. Right when I want to pass by them, two people in the group say bye and turn on their heels and walk forward. They didn't look at all to see if someone was behind them or near them and one of the guys walks into me. I say wtf and he says I'm sorry.
This kind of thing happens to me a lot. I always look out to see if someone is behind me or not. If I feel like someone is too close behind me I slow down and let them pass. If I'm in a group, we move off to side, if we just want to talk and aren't trying to get somewhere.
Not sure what to do at this point other than start yelling at people to move, cussing folks out or elbowing people to make them make way. 16 minutes ago - 4 days left to answer.
