Woke up to a text that the second cousins south of Jacksonville packed up the car and drove to Mobile, which is a relief. Other cousins in Tampa and Orlando aren’t leaving.
My heart goes out to the people in the Bahamas. Those poor islands are getting slaughtered by this hurricane.
Being a midwesterner, I have no personal experience with hurricanes. Is this one going extraordinarily slowly or is just confirmation bias of me being like “argh it’s so slow I bet it’s unusually slow”? I remember Harvey basically was like fuck you Texas, Imma sit here for days, but I felt like it moved overall faster than this one.
Also, I’m glad to see that coastal South Carolina ain’t waiting around to evacuate people.
