I wasn't really swinging for the fences on this one, but I wanted to share those stories and I wanted to write it well for you guys so I did a couple of drafts and had my friend proof read. (I also really did mean it as a this is the experience of a trans woman, not these are the experiences of all trans women...it's really different for all of us). They were just anecdotes without any kind of controversial statements so I'm not surprised that I didn't get a million responses, but it seems like a lot of people saw it, so that's pretty cool. I did change my avatar though. I miss my old star but it's really identifiable to people who know me, so I changed it to the Battle Tiger because Ubertrout drunkenly called me a tiger warrior princess—which I think is awesome and hilarious.
It wasn't just paranoia on my part, I actually did end up have a conversation with a guy I knew who had no idea it was me... Which was a funny coincidence.
Now I get to sit back and enjoy the delicious irony of having been main paged but still being greyed on Jez.
Regardless, it feels good to see the little orange dot of validation light up.
ETA: a couple of people complimented me on my writing and suggested that I start a blog. I do have a lot of "Big Posts" like that that I want to get out, but writing for you guys gives me an incentive to actually put these thoughts down. If I was writing a blog I would probably just let it languish and die.
