I was on a one-day vacation "Up North" this weekend with my sister, her 4 week old son and 5 year old daughter. It was exhausting. Last night, being completely exhausted but also starving, we stumbled across a cute restaurant, at which we ordered salads for takeout.
You guys, I got a Caesar salad, and damned if it wasn't the most glorious, luscious salad that ever existed. I know "luscious" is an odd word with which to describe a salad, but it really was absolute perfection. The Caesar dressing was homemade, there was plentiful (almost excessive, but in a good way) shredded Parmesan, and the croutons got perfectly softened yet still slightly crunchy in the dressing. I did not mean to go nuts on this salad, but it was so good that I could not stop until it was gone.
Eating that salad was pure euphoria. I've always been a fan of salads, but I've only had terribly disappointing ones lately, and had nearly given up on them. This salad has reawakened a part of me that knew that salads could be more than healthy drudgery, that knew they could taste so good they could leave you wishing for more and raving about how amazing it was.
And to think, I originally wanted pizza.
ETA- You know who else enjoys a good Caesar salad? GIIIBBOOOOOONS!
