I have a friend who works for one of the (out of what feels like a zillion) solar companies in this area as a Project Manager. So when it comes time for inspections, permits, and so on, he’s the one that takes care of all that. He gets sent all over the SoCal area (up to around Bakersfield is the furthest north I’ve personally seen him go), and while it’s not glamorous, they seem to treat him pretty well.
Monday, he told me his subordinates were mostly (if not totally) fired. The company’s apparently going to farm out installs instead of having an in-house staff from the sounds of things. Adding onto that, I just found out from him today that they removed the hours cap they had on him (50 hours/week), which coupled with his reduced staff sounds like it’s gonna be utter hell.
So this just sucks all the way ‘round. I feel for the workers who just got fired as the holidays are kicking off. And I feel for him, since I can already tell the stress is kicking in.
