A lot of critics of the trading 5 terrorists for him broke congressional rule and was not the appropriate action. I mean what were they supposed to do? Just let him stay in captivity? I feel like it is a damn if you do, damn if you don't situation. Apparently, a lot of soldiers in his flight were saying that he only got captured because he was a deserter. I mean even if he did desert that doesn't mean he shouldn't be helped by the US government. I think 5 years in captivity is more than punishment enough for going AWOL. I feel so terrible for his parents. The way the media talks about it they make it seem like he should have been left for dead.
