A new study from Princeton concludes the US is not a Democracy, like we enjoy internationally soapboxing about, but rather a Plutocratic Oligarchy, i.e. that the vast majority of governmental decisions are made to benefit a very small, very rich subset of our population.
The study examined nearly 1800 pieces of policy change made between 1981 and 2002 based on what extremely wealthy Americans and large lobbies wanted against the median American voter. Essentially, the super-rich and the (super)PACs got what they wanted most of the time, and the average American's will was only represented when it was in line with the whims of the wealthy and/or lobbies.
Essentially, the study shows your vote counts for dick. I tell you, it's a jaw-dropper.
