I moved back to Boston two years ago (I MISS YOU NYC) to the neighborhood I grew up in that is a decent mix of families, couples, and single folks, like myself. Unfortunately, I live next door to an apartment full of people who are renting and do not give a fuck about where they live and do not give a fuck about their neighbors. It seems clear that the owner(s?) of the building don't live there and rent out the apartments but they don't do any sort of upkeep and don't appear to have a super or anything. I'm not a curmudgeon, I like going to parties, and I remember what it's like being 22 but I wasn't a fucking asshole.

FYI: My apartment, a few shops, and several other apartments including this one share a communal parking lot that we make a square shape around. Most people store their garbage cans, cars, bikes, etc and have porches that over look it (what a view) and whatever you do on said porch can be heard and seen by all.

So this apartment has loud parties until the wee hours - not just dance parties but parties where everyone is hand drumming for some reason and so so so so much more obnoxious. Usually these parties are on the porch so it's so much louder. They also throw garbage in the tiny space between their porch and the fence that is on the edge of the parking lot - beer cans for days. They leave food out after parties on their porch attracting animals. They don't properly cover their garbage cans so there is garbage blown around all over the property. Last week, there was a water jug full of what looked like pee on the porch for THREE DAYS before it was moved. Three weeks ago, a dog took a shit in their front lawn (not their fault - there are no dogs in that building) but they just left it there! They did not shovel ONCE this entire winter. WE LIVE IN BOSTON. IT FUCKING SNOWS A LOT. Right now, there are two rusty shopping carts full of garbage and beer bottles in front of where they keep their garbage. They are disgusting and are actually blocking the sidewalk - a fairly busy sidewalk as it leads to our beautiful pond.

Ok, so I'll admit, I'm a person that reports things but it's usually things like clogged catch basins and broken streetlights due to living in Bed Stuy for years and feeling like the city didn't give a fuck about things unless you were on top of them (very different when I moved to Greenpoint. I wonder why?). So I've been reporting them to the city - for the trash, for the not shoveling, not usually for the parties but there was one that was still going at 3 AM (noise ordinance in Boston is 11 PM) and I just had enough, and just today for the shopping carts. My friend is making me feel bad about it for some reason like I'm being too harsh and "Who knows? Maybe the owner can't afford to clean up?" (this is my same friend that felt bad for the people that stole my credit card and went to Foot Locker - "They must have needed it.") But I feel like I'm justified. Everyone else cleans up. I feel like the owner(s) of the building should be doing this as well.

Am I justified in my reporting? Or am I being a narc?
